DPR holds meeting with CEO, Kikooko Africa Safaris
The Deputy Permanent Representative, Ambassador Arthur Kafeero held a meeting with the Founder and CEO of Kikooko Africa Safaris, Mr Warren Ankwasa at the Mission offices. The meeting took place at the invitation of the Mission with a goal of hearing first hand what marketing Uganda meant from the perspective of a Tour & Travel Agent. Central to the discussions were issues on promoting Uganda as a must go destination, the industries experiences, opportunities and challenges faced by the ordinary agent, mitigating solutions and how Missions abroad, using their mandate can partner & work together with the main players in the Industry through closer and deeper engagement with both the private, public sector organisations as well as with individuals. The parties considered funding as critical to promoting destination Uganda abroad with a need to reflect & inject the importance attached to tourism into our budgets; creating synergies among the various players and ensure an effective communication flow & network within the industry players. The discussions also touched on the challenges in obtaining VISAs for travel especially to EU destination and their affiliates.
It was agreed that subsequent meetings and follow-ups should form part of an effective winning strategy going forward with the development of a concept note as a reference tool for the players.
