DPR DELIVERS STATEMENT ON THE HUMAN RIGHTS SITUATION IN PALESTINE

The Deputy Permanent Representative, Amb Arthur Kafeero today delivered a statement on the human rights situation in Palestine on behalf of Uganda Delegation. He re-echoed the urgent need for a ceasefire and increase in humanitarian aid to the Gaza and the people of Palestine.

He delivered another statement on behalf of the NAM during the 56th Session of the HRC  Interactive Dialogue on the situation of human rights in the occupied territory of the state of Palestine.
 

AMBASSADOR TIBALEKA RECIEVES HON ODONGO JEJE AT THE MISSION

The Permanent Representative of the Uganda Embassy and Permanent Mission in Geneva today received the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon Odongo Jeje at the Permanent Mission. The Minister is in Geneva to attend a series of meetings at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and at the World Intellectual Property (WIPO). 

HON ODONGO JEJE MEETS WITH A SECTION OF THE DIASPORA

On the side lines of the recent engagements at the UCTAD and WIPO, Hon Odongo Jeje, Minister for Foreign Affairs had a moment to engage with a section of the diaspora at the Permanent Mission.

The Minister took note of the role of diaspora in national development, emphasizing individual investments and remittances that has increased by more than 13% from 2023, overall contributing up to 3% of GDP. He walked the diaspora through a series of reforms government is undertaking in conjunction with agencies like URA, UIA in providing an enabling environment for diaspora investment.

HON BETTY AMONGI DELIVERS NAM & UGANDA'S STATEMENT AT ILO

The Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development, Hon Betty Amongi Ochom yesterday delivered a double statement at the ongoing ILO  112th Session of the ILO. On the behalf of NAM, Hon Amongi  called for an immediate ceasefire and end to war in order to avert the plight of the Palestinian people, enduring hard conditions under the Israel led offensive.

Uganda stood out as a prime example of excellence in digital transformation. It showcases a success in transforming a service that enables digital authentication, electronic signature and document sealing setting a high standard in digital government services globally.

HON RUTH ACHENG MEETS WITH THE DIASPORA

Hon Ruth Achen, Minister of Health, today met with a section of the Diaspora in Switzerland, on the sidelines of the World Health Assembly. The Minister thanked the members and commended them for their commitments and contributions, not just to their work at the International Organisations, but took note of their contributions to the national development of their home country through the various initiatives in investment. She underscored the need for patriotism and unity as a precursor to development.
