Hon Sarah Opendi this afternoon paid a courtesy call to the Permanent Mission of Uganda to the United nations and other International Organisations, in Geneva. She was received by the Permanent Representative, Ambassador Marcel Robert Tibaleka and Deputy Permanent Representative, Ambassador Arthur Kafeero. The trio held discussions on the on-going meetings at the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and issues on agenda of International Organisations based in Geneva.

Brig General, Emmanuel Kazahura during the Intersessional convention on anti-personnel mine bans taking place in Geneva from 19-21 June. Hundreds of delegates representing states and international and non-governmental organisations are in attendance.

Honourable Betty Ongom AMONGI, Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development, led Uganda’s delegation to the 111th International Labour Conference of the International Labour Organization (ILO) taking place from 5th to 16th June 2023 in Geneva, Switzerland. 

The International Labour Organization holds its 111th annual Conference in Geneva from 5–16 June 2023. Worker, employer and government delegates from the ILO's 187 Member States address a wide range of issues, including: a just transition towards sustainable and inclusive economies, quality apprenticeships, and labour protection.

Arthur Kafeero- Deputy PR at the Uganda Permanent Mission in Geneva delivered a Statement at the HRC Special Session on Sudan held on 11 May 2023. He called upon the Council and the International community to support regional efforts and cooperate with Sudan to realize peace, security and stability.

UGANDA AND ILO COMMIT TO STRENGTHENING DEVELOPMENT COOPERATION

Today Afternoon, Ambassador Marcel Tibaleka, Uganda’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva paid a courtesy call on Mr. Gilbert F. Houngbo, Director General of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) at the UN Agency’s Headquarters in Geneva.

Ambassador Tibaleka congratulated Mr Houngbo upon his election as the first African Director General to lead the ILO since its foundation more than 100 years ago.
