Status Of Covid-19 In The Country And Measures To Stem Its Spread

On Sunday 6 June and Friday 17 June, 2021, H.E The President addressed the Country on the status of COVID-19 and put in place measures to stem its spread. Among them and most important to Note for travelers who wish to travel to Uganda are the following:

1. Travel from Category 1 countries, as defined by the Ministry of Health, remain suspended except returning Ugandans. At the moment, only India is listed as category 1;

2. All Travelers including children coming from countries under Category A and B (India, United States of America, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Turkey, South Africa, Ethiopia, Kenya, South Sudan and Tanzania); regardless of reported vaccination status, are subjected to mandatory PCR testing at a standardized fee of $65 by the Private Sector;

3. Any traveler who tests positive for COVID-19 will be evacuated to a designated COVID-19 Isolation Unit. Any child found positive for COVID-19 will be evacuated along with their parent/guardian/caretaker.

4. Tourist vehicles must observe the SOPs as spelt out by the Ministry of Health. They should move directly to their destinations and designated places;
