UGANDA RE-ELECTED AS MEMBER OF THE WIPO COORDINATION COMMITTEE AND ELECTED AS MEMBER OF WIPO PROGRAM AND BUDGET COMMITTEE FOR THE BIENNIUM 2022/2023

The Sixty-Second Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of WIPO taking place in Geneva 4-8 October, 2021 has re-elected Uganda as a member of the WIPO Coordination Committee and elected Uganda as a member of the WIPO Program and Budget Committee for the Biennium 2022/2023.

The WIPO Coordination Committee (COCO) is one of the most powerful of the organization’s governing bodies. The committee discusses and make decisions on administrative and management matters. It plays a crucial role in nominating and selecting a suitable candidate for the position of Director General of WIPO.

The WIPO Program and Budget Committee (PBC) is also one of the most important committees of the Organization and there has been a shift of power towards the PBC in recent years. The PBC discusses WIPO’s budgetary and programmatic activities including the program and budget, oversight matters, the organization’s capital development plans and investment, audit matters and risks related to the organization’s mandate.
