UGANDA PARTICIPATES IN THE 73RD SESSION OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF THE HIGH COMMISSIONER’S PROGRAMME
The 73rd Session of the Executive Committee of the High Commissioner’s Programme is taking place at the Palais de Nations in Geneva. H. E. Ambassador Robert Marcel Tibaleka, Permanent Representative of the Uganda Permanent Mission to the United Nations and other International Organisations in Geneva is leading the delegation to the UNHCR EXCOMM taking place from 10-14 October 2022. He is accompanied by Mr Douglas Asiimwe, Commissioner, Department of Refugees in the Office of the Prime Minister and, First Secretary at the Permanent Mission of Uganda in Geneva, Ms. Mary Namono. Uganda is the largest refugee hosting country in Africa, and the third in the whole world. The Permanent Representative delivered a message calling for equal burden and responsibility sharing on the international obligation of protection of refugees as well as share our time tested experience in the hosting of refugees. The Executive Committee at the 73rd Session will also consider reports on the work of the Standing committee, reports relating to programme and administrative oversight and evaluation as well as the programme budget for 2023.
