UGANDA PRESENTS HER HUMAN RIGHTS REPORT AT THE UNIVERSAL PERIODIC REVIEW CONFERENCE

The Universal Periodic Review (UPR) is a unique process which involves a periodic review of the human rights records of all 193 UN Member States. Uganda as a country that is committed to Human Rights will appear tomorrow Thursday, 3rd November 2016 to defend its Human Rights Record as contained in the Report to be presented in the Working Group.

A 26 Man delegation headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Sam Kutesa is to appear as scheduled to put straight Uganda’s Human Rights Record. The Delegation includes Officials from different Ministries and representatives from different Government Agencies who will clarify on some of the situations that have resulted into questioning of Uganda’s Human rights record. The discussion will range from Basic Human Rights, Women’s Rights, Torture, Children Rights, Security, Societal Norms and Civil Society.

The Ugandan Government is committed to accountability relating to Human Rights and the delegation will receive and discuss the Work Group report but also take advice on areas of Improvement as far as the current Human Rights situation is concerned. The Government also requests you the citizen to be open when discussing the issue of Human Rights to aid the process aimed at plugging out all bottlenecks.
